Job summary

The Red Hat JBoss Quality Engineering team is looking for a Quality Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of quality for the Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP), the market-leading, cloud-friendly, fully certified JEE application server. You’ll need to gain deep understanding of various aspects of complex Java enterprise technologies and get familiar with enterprise features like load balancing and high availability. As a Quality Engineer, you will be participating in designing complex test scenarios and developing enterprise Java applications used for testing and automated tests and testing frameworks. You’ll solve problems, perform deep root cause analysis, and provide fixes for found problems. This role is a great opportunity to make a difference in building the next generation of open source Java web frameworks and Java middleware. Primary job responsibilities

  • Continuously improve deep understanding of Enterprise Java platform technologies
  • Develop enterprise applications used for testing
  • Design and develop test automation frameworks for various environments like cloud, multiple operating systems, large clusters, or containers
  • Serve as an internal advocate for our customers
  • Document new bugs and advocate their resolution and fixes with developers
  • Communicate the impact of these bugs to customers with developers and support
  • Constantly learn new things and maintain an overview of current technologies
  • Gain experience with application server tuning on different JVMs and different environments and with the development of enterprise applications
  • Get familiar with various different production environments, different operating systems, and cloud providers

Required skills

  • Experience with Java and JEE
  • Familiarity with technologies like Java Message Service (JMS), Java Persistence API (JPA), JEE Connector architecture, Java Transaction API (JTA), Java API for WebSocket, Contexts and Dependency Injection (CDI), etc.
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or UNIX-like operating systems
  • Knowledge of Ant, Maven, Apache Subversion (SVN), and Git
  • Familiarity with continuous integration (CI)
  • Ability to think creatively and adapt to change
  • Willingness to learn new things while working with colleagues from all over the world
  • Experience with debugging and performance tuning is a plus
