Job summary

The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Sales Director to join the Enterprise Sales team in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will be in charge of a team of enterprise account managers, generating sales in the Japanese telecommunications (telco) market (telco companies, mobile carriers, internet service providers - ISPs, etc.) across our entire portfolio of software. You'll take an active role in meeting with customers and channel partners on a regular basis to secure business. As a Sales Director, it will be your responsibility to build, train, develop, and manage your team in order to expand existing Red Hat accounts and develop new business revenue streams for Red Hat’s offerings.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Oversee telco divisions, including the NTT group, KDDI, SoftBank group, and xSP
  • Develop a comprehensive annual enterprise sales business plan and sales strategy and carry it out to expand business and deliver annual growth
  • Increase sales bookings and revenue in Japan by meeting target bookings, revenue, and profit, as well as growth goals focused on strategic solutions, accounts, projects, and deals
  • Develop and maintain trusted customer relationships in target accounts by serving as the key contact with senior executives and business owners of IT services in customer organizations
  • Identify and implement new business opportunities and business growth strategies
  • Manage and expand the user committee, the Red Hat User Group (REUG), to enhance Red Hat's recognition in Japan by working with the marketing team
  • Build a successful team by recruiting, developing, training, and coaching people with solid solutions sales methodology to transform the enterprise sales organization into a high-performance team

Required skills

  • Outstanding background as an executive in sales; general management experience at a leading IT company, preferably in the enterprise software industry
  • Proven record of conducting sales to large enterprises; experience selling to various industries is a plus
  • Excellent focus on the customer and ability to gain access to customer senior-level decision-makers and earn their respect
  • Solid solutions sales methodology; ability to coach people to develop their solutions sales ability and help them carry out account plans
  • Proven record of and focus on achieving sales objectives and quotas; keen ability to acquire business
  • Understanding of Red Hat's services, business model, and culture
  • Balance of excellent abilities to be in charge and to work as part of a team
  • Solid presence and recognition, both internally and externally
  • Logical thinking skills with the ability to learn fast and make quick decisions
  • Experience working in a multinational matrix organization and familiarity with western business methods
  • Good communication skills in English (TOEIC 800 or equivalent) and diverse cultural experience
