Job summary

The Red Hat People (HR) team is looking for a Senior Portfolio Manager focused on leadership, management, and professional development to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will ensure Red Hat's leadership, management, and professional development portfolios build the capabilities necessary to promote Red Hat's business results today and in the future. You will be a member of the Red Hat University (RHU) Consulting and Planning team. You'll work with global stakeholders and partners to determine what learning and development (L&D) offerings (formal, informal, information-based, self-paced, instructor-led, etc.) best enable Red Hat managers, leaders, and associates, and produce desired business outcomes. As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the overall portfolio of leadership, management, and professional development offerings to ensure they are aligned with Red Hat competencies, support clear and measurable business outcomes, and lack redundancy. You'll do this by collaborating with RHU consultants, instructional designers, developers, and others to determine whether offerings in your portfolio are developed within Red Hat University, purchased from external suppliers, or curated from available open source content like MOOCs. You will also partner closely with other stakeholders within the People team to build comprehensive solutions in the professional, management, and leadership development space.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Establish and implement portfolio cleansing plan for all offerings within leadership, management, and professional portfolios
  • Carry out portfolio health plan for all L&D offerings within leadership, management and professional portfolios
  • Manage relationships with other Red Hat content providers and with other vendors for content in leadership, management, and professional portfolios
  • Gain support of relevant team members for building and buying courses, or curating decisions
  • Provide consultants with information and advice required to support assembly of effective scalable affordable curricula
  • Partner with instructional designers and consultants to establish clear, behavioral-based, relevant learning objectives for new or updated offerings within assigned portfolios
  • Review and validate designs with instructional designer at key development milestones
  • Maintain industry knowledge and awareness of trends related to leadership, management, and professional L&D portfolios

Required skills

  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing effective learning and development solutions and curricula that are practical, realistic, and scalable; proven ability to translate learning theory into practical, consumable, and scalable solutions is critical
  • 10+ years of experience in design, development, facilitation, program management, and curriculum or portfolio management within the management and leadership development domain
  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, organizational training, organizational development, corporate education, performance support, or equivalent; master's degree is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly identify meaningful business impact and success metrics for L&D solutions, and a proven track record of analyzing and reporting on these measures in a practical and salable manner
  • Ability to take action to address any solutions that are not producing the desired impact
  • Extensive background in design, development, and implementation of L&D solutions, with a mix of formal and informal elements aligned to the 70-20-10 model (e.g. experiential, social and connections, formal)
  • Experience working in a globally matrixed environment, with a track record of balancing global and geographic needs to produce impactful business outcomes
  • Highly consultative approach and a proven track record of effective collaboration and influence at all levels of an organization, with demonstrated capability to achieve goals in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment
  • Ability to work in and manage ambiguity, including dealing with issues, problems, and events that do not always have a process, system, or solution in place
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex, strategic ideas or concepts in a business and user-friendly manner
