Job summary

The Red Hat Public Sector Consulting team is looking for an experienced Middleware Architect to join us in Tysons Corner, VA. In this role, you will promote the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key public sector accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. Through a series of both in-person and remote interactions, you'll earn the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases to the functional capabilities of Red Hat’s solutions. You’ll also play a critical role in bringing together cross-functional teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. As a Middleware Architect, you'll serve as a customer advocate within these organizations, architecting the right solutions and ensuring they are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. We'll need you to have a thorough working knowledge of and practical experience with middleware cloud architectures and their supporting infrastructures, as well as a good understanding of cloud and DevOps models and technologies. Remote candidates will also be considered.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Guide the adoption of Red Hat's unique middleware solutions in Red Hat’s key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners
  • Provide subject matter expertise around the implementation and use of the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on the use of containers in the large-scale development of microservices
  • Assist with the development and adoption of DevOps best practices and the architecture and design of integration services
  • Bring together cross-functionally Red Hat’s product, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers
  • Deliver successful discovery, analysis, and design workshops for small to medium teams of both technical and nontechnical backgrounds that shape customer use cases and architecture design decisions

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in the job offered or in a solutions architect, enterprise architect, or architect consulting delivery role
  • 4+ years of experience with middleware maintenance and their supporting infrastructures
  • Experience with architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain
  • Experience with consultative customer engagement with a major consulting services organization or within the IT, engineering, or services division of a major software company
  • Experience with and proven record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior developers, IT, and business executives
  • Experience with virtualization and middleware technologies, specifically Red Hat JBoss Fuse, and OpenShift by Red Hat
  • Extensive experience presenting to C-level executives
  • Experience with solutions sales in an environment with multiple offerings and solutions, including experience working seamlessly with distributed, cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
  • Experience working with open source technologies and open source communities
  • Ability to obtain the Public Trust Security Clearance
  • Top Secret clearance; higher-level clearance is a plus
