Job summary

The Red Hat Open Innovation Labs is looking for an Engagement Lead to join us in Boston, MA. In this role you will work in a residency-style role, working together with customers in small teams to build, test, and iterate over innovative application prototypes attached to real business value. You’ll use a variety of modern application development practices, along with emerging technologies from open source communities, to get it done. As an Engagement Lead, you will be the key part in the process of guiding agile transformations and coaching and nurturing fledgling owners of our offerings. You’ll also be involved in the wider transformations our customers are going through, serving as a catalyst, so you should feel comfortable talking to C-level executives about how we can support their business goals as well as running workshops and putting together strategic proposals that support these transformation initiatives. You'll support everything from the selling and scoping of Open Innovation Labs residencies and projects to managing the delivery team's work, ensuring customer success. Throughout the lifecycle of a residency or project, you will have control and oversight from start to finish, including determining the scope details and monitoring the project's progress to ensure it conforms to customer expectations and contractual agreements.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Support presales and scoping of consulting solutions
  • Support sales and business development for the Open Innovation Labs
  • Handle change management and escalations
  • Work with internal stakeholders to gain internal statement of work approval and delivery
  • Create efficient and qualitative proposals for customers by ensuring all needs are defined through analyses of the customer environments and expectations
  • Build interpersonal relationships with other Red Hat departments and serve as a trusted advisor to major Red Hat customers
  • Engage with and persuade C-level executives
  • Formulate detailed business cases for how an organization can achieve its business goals by embracing agility
  • Integrate creative and innovative ways to position a strategic direction
  • Inspire customers to embrace Red Hat's open approach as a means of transforming not only what they do, but how they do it
  • Innovate our current thinking and develop new approaches to change how organizations and teams deliver software and systems
  • Coach teams of agile coaches, developers, and testers to embrace the agile methodology and identify and resolve impediments; track continuous improvement
  • Work with customers on initiatives to support agile transformations across business teams
  • Serve as the agile project manager for Open Innovation Labs residencies, including residency planning and management, team management, process management and improvement, team building, and product owner support and coaching
  • Coach owners of our offerings to create product vision and roadmap
  • Support teams in converting existing Product Requirement documents to JIRA product backlog
  • Coach owners of our offerings to write effective user stories, to prioritize backlog based on business value, and to track value points in sprints

Required skills

  • Understanding of the Red Hat business strategy and economic model; good business insight and judgment
  • Demonstrated expertise in sales or supporting the sales of professional services, including developing statements of work (SOWs), pricing, large-scale proposal development, and client development
  • Experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services consultant
  • Knowledge of project management processes and experience with revenue-based project reporting
  • 5+ years of experience as Senior Scrum Master with a scrum coaching mentality in a 100% agile environment in an organisation that ships software
  • Solid experience in using agile project management tools and methods
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills; solid written and verbal communication skills and ability to present to C-level executives
  • Established, sustainable network of customer relationships
  • Proven ability to understand the technical impact of projects from supportability, scalability, and repeatability aspects as well as their business impact on both Red Hat and customers in delivering and scoping projects
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree is a plus
