Job summary

The Red Hat Open Innovation Labs team is looking for an Agile Engagement Lead to join us in Sydney, Australia. In this role, you will use a variety of an agile and modern application development practices, along with emerging technologies from open source communities. You will work together with small teams of consulting engineers and customers to build, test, and iterate innovative application prototypes which deliver real business value. You'll be the heartbeat of an Open Innovation Labs residency, coaching and nurturing novice customers. You will also be involved in the wider transformation our customers are going through, acting as the catalyst of these transformations. For that reason, you'll need to have solid transformation knowledge and feel comfortable talking to C-level executives about how we can support their business goals, running workshops and putting together strategic proposals that support these initiatives. As an Engagement Lead, you'll support everything from the selling and scoping of Open Innovation Labs residencies and projects to guiding the delivery team's implementation of these projects, ensuring customer success. Throughout the life cycle of a residency or project, you will have control and oversight from kickoff to closeout, determining scope details and monitoring the project's progress to ensure it conforms to customer expectations and contractual agreements.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Support sales and business development for the Open Innovation Labs
  • Handle change management and escalations
  • Work with internal stakeholders to gain internal statement of work (SOW) approval and delivery
  • Create efficient and qualitative proposals for customers by ensuring all needs are defined through analyses of customer environments and expectations
  • Build interpersonal relationships with other Red Hat teams and serve as a trusted adviser for major Red Hat customers
  • Engage with and persuade C-level executives
  • Inspire clients to embrace Red Hat’s open approach as a means of transforming not only what they do but how they do it
  • Innovate our current thinking and develop new approaches to change how organizations and teams deliver software and systems
  • Coach teams of agile coaches, developers, and testers to embrace the agile methodology and identify and resolve impediments
  • Work with customers on initiatives to support agile transformations across both business and technical teams
  • Serve as an agile project manager for Open Innovation Labs residencies, including residency planning and management, team management, process management and improvement, team building, and support and coaching of the owners of our offerings
  • Coach owners of our offerings to create product vision and roadmap
  • Support teams in converting existing product requirement documents to product backlogs
  • Coach owners of our offerings to write effective user stories, prioritize backlog based on business value, and track value points in sprints

Required skills

  • Experience in customer-facing positions as a professional services consultant
  • 5+ years of experience as a senior scrum master with a coaching mentality in a 100% agile environment with a an organisation that ships software
  • Solid experience in using agile project management tools and methods
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills; solid written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to C-Level executives
  • Experience in sales or supporting the sales of professional services, including developing SOWs, pricing, large-scale proposal development, and client development
  • Bachelor's or MBA degree is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
