Job summary

The Red Hat Emerging Technology Practice team is looking for a Practice Lead to join us. In this role, you’ll manage a team of architects and consultants in the development, delivery, and enablement of enterprise level repeatable solutions associated with a key Red Hat emerging technology set within the Red Hat Consulting Emerging Technology Practice. You will work on solutions that can be innovations of our core solutions or new innovations and need to be aligned with clients and the Consulting team’s needs. As a Practice Lead you will focus on the core around the processes necessary to guide the adoption of Red Hat JBoss Middleware either through migration or modernization of our customers’ environments. We’ll need you to work closely with Red Hat Consulting, Sales, Business Unit Product owners, and other teams to achieve your goals. This role can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of your team with focus on key skills and experience across market verticals and solution areas
  • Manage and guide teams of architects and consultants focused on a diversified and changing Red Hat JBoss Middleware and Application Development technology portfolio
  • Identify key projects where the Application Migration and Modernization Practice team can provide added value with new services approaches and methodology
  • Ensure business objective of the Regional Consulting team are met, including team billable utilization to meet financial targets and successful client delivery
  • Manage all the back-office tasks to ensure visibility and reporting on team activities
  • Support and manage complex projects, workshops, and agile delivery
  • Maintain any necessary customer contact; act as an escalation point for customers, and represent customers within the Emerging Technology Practice and Red Hat regional teams
  • Guide services thought leadership and business success through cross-functional alignment with sales, business units, engineering, support, and enablement and training
  • Work with Solution Sales Specialists leadership team to integrate and improve customer pursuit approaches, track and report on business progress, and align capacity with expected demand
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships and communication with Business Unit leadership to ensure consulting preparedness for evolving product strategies, and to provide customer experience and feedback to the BU to improve product direction
  • Ensure customer success by collaborating with engineering and support to validate consulting approaches and methodologies are in line with recommended standards
  • Promote customer and market experience to constantly improve training and enablement programs and materials so that they best apply to consulting needs
  • Develop services methodology, best practices, and technical content on modern application migration and modernization solutions
  • Enable the greater customer, internal, and partner teams with proven Middleware Platforms, Application Development, and Emerging Technology service methodologies, technology skills, and approach
  • Guide and mentor to provide consistent and reusable delivery methodologies, with a focus on Red Hat JBoss Middleware, Application Development, Emerging Technologies, and long-term supportability
  • Support the enablement organization around the Application Migration and Modernization technologies, methodologies, and emerging solutions

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience as a solutions architect, enterprise architect, or in an architect consulting delivery role
  • Proven track record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior IT operations and engineering professionals and business executives
  • Extensive knowledge of and operational experience with new service methodologies related to modern Application Migration and Modernization, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), as well as agile and DevOps
  • Ability to quickly embrace and understand new technologies; ability to assimilate new information and understand complex topics
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in the management of a professional services team, including customer-facing experience, with highly technical associates
  • Background in architecture and design of complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
  • Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple products and services
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
  • Solid balance of strategic and tactical skills, excellent problem-solving skills, and capacity for original thought
  • Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with the open source communities via email and IRC
  • Ability to study and quickly learn and put new topics into practice
  • Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation
  • Willingness to travel weekly to client locations throughout the United States and Canada
  • Experience across one or more vertical industry areas is a plus
