Job summary

Red Hat’s North American Enterprise Integration team is looking for a Senior Enterprise Integration Consultant.This team specializes in promoting customer success through integration, pre-sales, and delivery excellence using Red Hat JBoss Fuse. In this role, you will solve interesting challenges and provide messaging solutions using modern Java development tools. This hands-on role is a great opportunity for someone who is excited to learn our products, from the UI all the way down to the Linux kernel. Your passion and eagerness to learn is more important than your existing expertise, but learning new technology quickly, from UI frameworks to integration technologies to public and private cloud APIs, is a key responsibility. As a Senior Enterprise Integration Consultant, you'll get the chance to tap into new and exciting technology landscapes, and be deeply involved in developing integration solutions for our customers.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Write clean, maintainable code in a variety of frameworks and at all levels of the stack
  • Solve integration challenges and provide messaging solutions for customers
  • Learn new technology quickly
  • Travel weekly throughout the U.S. and Canada

Required skills

These are the skills you'll be expected to have going into the role:

  • Relevant technology experience, e.g. consulting, engineering, and application development, as well as excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Solid programming experience using Java; experience with Groovy, Scala, Angular JS etc. is a plus
  • Experience with integration technologies from IBM, Mulesoft, Tibco,or Webmethods is a plus
  • Experience with J2EE Application Servers (Weblogic, Websphere etc) and JEE technologies is a plus
  • Experience with messaging technologies including Tibco EMS, MQ Series, RabbitMQ, and Apache Kafka is a plus
  • Experience with Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or a derivative

Here’s an idea of how the Enterprise Integration Consultant role will evolve over your first year.

 

Within 3 months, be prepared to join a project team by acquiring the following:

  • an understanding of how Red Hat JBoss Fuse and A-MQ are positioned in the market 
  • hands-on product experience to begin contributing on customer engagements
  • a working knowledge of Git, Maven, Jenkins, and surrounding technologies to develop integration solutions using Red Hat JBoss Fuse

Within 12 months, be ready to lead a Red Hat JBoss Fuse-based integration project by attaining the following:

  • successful, collaborative delivery of customer requirements using knowledge of projects like Apache Camel, ActiveMQ, Karaf, and CXF
  • understanding of Agile and other project management approaches to implement projects from design to production
  • a working understanding of the relationship between integration technologies, containers, BRMS and BPM suites, databases, and the Linux operating system
  • an understanding of advanced product features to carry out complex customer use cases

Within 24 months, be contributing to the state of the art by accomplishing the following:

  • successful leadership of a customer project using Red Hat JBoss Fuse, A-MQ, and surrounding technologies
  • acting as a mentor to help other consultants learn Red Hat JBoss Fuse and A-MQ
  • contributing lessons learned, best practices, and how to’s to our internal and/or external communities of practice
  • contributing to upstream community projects like Camel, ActiveMQ, etc.
