Job summary

Red Hat's Consulting team is looking for a Senior Consulting Software Developer to design, develop, test, and deploy open source software solutions with our enterprise customers. In this role, you'll cover areas like enterprise mobility solutions, as well as IoT applications and large-scale computing clusters. We'll need you to have great customer-service skills, as you will serve as a trusted advisor to customers as you help them achieve business success in an ever-changing technology landscape.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Design and deploy enterprise mobility solutions using Node.js, MongoDB, and OpenShift
  • Work on IoT applications that run on high-performance messaging back ends built with Camel, ActiveMQ, and Drools complex event processing
  • Contribute to large-scale computing clusters based around technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm, and Mesos
  • Use your critical thinking skills to address difficult problems in an innovative way
  • Travel weekly to client locations throughout the U.S. and Canada

Required skills

  • Significant development and delivery experience with Java, JavaScript, or Node.js; experience with Ruby or Go is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience with the design, development, testing, and deployment of a large, distributed, object-oriented application
  • Applied knowledge of modern software delivery methods like TDD, BDD, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps
  • Solid object-oriented skills and knowledge of software design patterns
  • Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with open source communities
  • Ability to navigate an enterprise-scale organization and influence decision makers
  • Good written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to study and quickly learn and put into practice new topics
  • Passion for open source software
